I have a Question

Assuming or knowing that we all are souls that have originated in Heaven with our Father, before we are born……why does God make us forget about our time in Heaven? I know there is a good answer…..I just don’t know where to find it in the Bible.

What about Jeremiah 1:5

“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.
Before you were born I set you apart
and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

This verse suggest to me that God knew was before we came to the earth.....

  1. Mike,

I don't think that we originated in Heaven. We are descendants of Adam & Eve, and God made Adam out of the dust of the ground and then breathed life into him. (Gen. 2:7) "the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being." (Genl 2:21-23) "So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleepiing, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a women from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. And the man said, 'this is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, for she was taken out of man.'"

Psalm 139:13-16 says "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

I believe God made our spirit & soul when our bodies were being formed. But we were born into sin, and that is why we need to be born-again or saved. Then the Bible says we are a "new creation", old things pass away, all things are made new.

    Hope this helps???

  2. I believe our souls are as one with God, and that in that sense, we came from Heaven. And, I believe our souls have the "blueprint" of God. I think that when we are truly in touch with ourselves spiritually we have an inborn sense of the goodness and light of God. After all, God is Heaven.

We are each physical and spiritual. From a DNA perspective we have a link to Adam and Eve, but from a spiritual perspective we are all of God. When it is time for our souls to take a physical form, the two become one during our time here on Earth.

Just my two cents worth. Love you.

  3. One principle of Bible interpretation is that if the scripture is silent on a topic or an issue, we are silent. If the
Scripture speaks directly to it, we do so as well. Then, when there is need for an answer that is not mentioned
“per say” we take the wider teaching and within proper context and see if we can “deduce” from that the
Answers we are seeking. I do not know of any teaching on us existing “in heaven” before we were born on earth.
The references to God “knowing us in our mother’s womb” or “before we were born”, is well documented both the
Old and New Covenants...700 years before Christ was born on earth Isa. Prophesied...King Cyrus was mentioned by
Name some 300 years before he was born...that’s no hill to climb for our Creator...Paul says that our Father is One
“...who calls things that are not as though
They were, and raises the dead.” if Our God can do and does those things, it’s clear that He “knows us” before
We are born!! Paul says that we were “...created in Christ Jesus for good works” and that Jesus was “crucified before
The foundation of the world”...we know that he was crucified in Jerusalem some 2000 years ago, however, in God’s Mind
And God’s “Sphere” this took place in the Father’s heart and purpose long before, in eternity past! What God “intends”
He knows! What He knows will happen! He “knew us” and we were born in our time and in God’s overall plan, His will,
And for His purpose!! The scripture speaks in Isa, Jeremiah, and Ezek about the heavens before the “earth was created”
And some things that took place with God and Michael, Gabriel, and Lucifer and the angels who were with the Father...
But nothing is said of any person or babies existing before they were born under God’s plan and perfect will laid out
In Genesis to Adam and Eve...”...be fruitful and multiply, and replentish the earth.” These “babies” were to be those
From which God would “save” and then “give to Christ as His inheritance and became His Body!! The Church!!
There’s so much to learn about what we DO know written in Scripture, without speculation on what we don’t know.
